As far as I know, they are not sold in stores. Online sales only, another reason for their attractive pricing!kingdavid wrote:I really want to try a Hallmark but can't find any stores on their website. Does anyone know who sells them in Los Angeles area or how I could find a list of stores?

Re: Eastwood or Hallmark ???
Thanks for the info - I just wanted to play one to get the feel of it. I guess I'll keep checking out the forums... Your Hallmark sounds great on those recordings.

Droped into Motor City Gutar the other day to get some parts, and checked out a couple of eastwoods. I'm not trying to PO anyone that has a eastwood, but I personally was not that impresed with thw workman ship and quality of the guitar,I was disapointed in the german carve but was quite surprised that it had a set neck. I belive it had a zero fret, but the string guide was just a piece of plastic, not impresed at all

The Eastwood Sidejack is a Mosrite in shape only. Plus it uses stock P90 pick ups, and currently a Fender style trem (as opposed to the early Burns trem) wich really effects the tone of the guitar. Some of their stuff can be hit and miss but with a little tweaking on some models they can be great players.

I have no experience with the Eastwood but I just got a 60 Custom from Bob and it's great. You'll love dealing with Bob, very nice, quick replies to emails just seems like a good guy. I love my Hallmark!

Re: Eastwood or Hallmark ???
I bought an Eastwood High Flyer "demo" guitar pretty early in their run. I would assume the quality control is better now, at least I would hope so. Most of it just came down to sloppiness. From a feel standpoint, the fretboard was rather flat and the neck was pretty chunky - so it really wasn't anything like a Mosrite (other than the body shape). The cheap Jag/JM knockoff trem was very stiff. I've never played a Univox original although the pics I've seen look pretty close to the Eastwood. I know the Sidejack is supposed to be more of a Mos copy, rather than a copy of a copy.
The Dillion I had was closer to a Mosrite and the build quality was much better than the Eastwood. All that being said, the Hallmarks are simply light-years ahead of any of em.

Re: Eastwood or Hallmark ???
The Univox has a nicer german carve and very round neck with narrow fretboard.
Pretty comfortable for my stubby fingers.
The Eastwood guitars aren't bad guitars, but for the money they ask in Australia, there are much better options. I've played an Airline copy and it wasn't all that nice. They got for $1300 or something crazy like that here. You can get a Japanese Mosrite for the same $ fairly consistently.
The sidejack model has the same Jag style trem as the Univox and Guyatone, but the tone is completely different(not that the 70's copies sound anything like my Mosrite). One thing I noticed is that Eastwood, Dillon and Harlem sidejacks all look like they're from the same factory. The "wrong" german carve is nearly identical on each of them.
The necks are big and fat, and for me at least, not very comfortable.
If I came across one cheap enough though, I'd probably buy it as a spare guitar that I'd not be affraid to take to shows.
