MosriteCelebrity.com is alive!

Postby Sarah93003 » Mon Jul 26, 2010 6:08 pm

Well, I can finally announce that the website is online! You have no idea how many hours this took. Actually, I don't have any idea either!

It is definitely a labor of love. The upload alone took approximately 20 hours to get it online. Let me say right off the bat that this website is photo intensive and the photos are as large as I received them. I want people to be able to zoom in and see great detail so I did not shrink any of them. If you have a slower internet connection the page may take a few minutes to load, but I hope it is worth the wait.

Most important to me is that I have accurate information on this site. So please let me know if you spot something that is incorrect. I am also open to any feed back to improving this site.

I know I can be guilty of "paralysis by perfection" so I just had to bite the bullet and stop working on the site just to get it online. I already have a rather large update to do and that will follow. At the bottom of each page will be a revision date so you can tell if anything has changed. I will also put an area someplace to log the revisions so people won't have to grope around to find the changes.

There you have it folks, I hope you enjoy and I look forward to any feedback!

Sarah

PS to Danny: I figured this belonged in the Links area but did not think everyone would look there so that's why I put it here. If you need to move it now or later, that's cool. If you have other ideas I am wide open for them as well. Once you've had a look around you can see that to put the information directly on the forum would be huge.

The MosriteCelebritycom site is already awesome! Thanks to Sarah, I now realize that my 1972 Celebrity (SN 3C0148) has a headstock logo treatment that really belongs on a different year.

Luckily, I like the one on my guitar better than the one it is supposed to have! I had no idea about that.

I knew that the upper pickguard and lower control plate were not stock, but, again, I like them better than the stock ones. DennisTheMenace, forum moderator, could probably give us an accurate idea of how those originated. I believe they have the same screw placement as the original plates.

I don't know whether Semie made the black custom ones now on the guitar, but whoever did had a flair for style. Dennis had the original lower plate and provided it in the case when he sold me the guitar.

Anyway, Sarah: You did a wonderful job and it is worthy of all the time and effort you have devoted to it.

Finally  The announcement.

This is probably the most comprehensive and well organized site dedicated to a specific model/type that I have ever seen. (and I've seen a lot). Excellent work Sarah.

While the Forum is a wealth of information, this site will do more to document and promote The Celeb and even Mosrite than anything else out there.

In short
:P Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Rich

I think the post is in the right forum area

Oh; something else that may be different about mine: it does have neck binding, though I don't think that the usual Celebrity IIIs did.

Hey Jim, that is true for the earlier Celebrity-III's. 1972 was the last year for the Celebrity-III. I have photos of about six of them, including a bass and they all have neck binding. I think they got a little spruced up for their send off! Interestingly, in 1973 when the Ce-III disappeared, the Celebrity-II was reduced to the single layer binding on the bout. I don't know what that was about!

I'm guessing that your pickguard is a customization as all of the other CE-III's of 1972 that I know of have the standard CE-III pickguard shape.

Agreed! Great site even for us non-Celebrity owners.

I really love the literature section. It's great to see all of that in one place.

Congrats on a job well done!
