Hi Rick and wecome! It's good to see we have more people from Ma. I'm all the way over in the west end of the state,Williamstown. Lookin forward to those pics.

I grew up in Pittsfield so I know the area well. My bass came from a store in Springfield but not long after that Fran's Guitar Studio in North Adams became a Mosrite dealer. Fran's always had great deals on gear. There was another shop in Pittsfield called Mr. Music that sold Mosrites for a while. I had the opportunity to play a couple sweet 6-and-12-string guitars there. The guy who ran the store was usually drunk so kids would put $10.00 down on a $300.00 guitar, walk out with it, and the guy would forget to write the transaction down. Not the best business model so he didn't last long.

Fran passed away several years ago.but was selling guitars and amps up to the end. I don't remember Mr. Music but Wood Bros. Is still in Pittsfield.........man I miss Fran!

Mr. Music was around the corner from The Lantern and Wood Bros. was on the opposite corner from The Lantern. I was just looking at some photos of downtown Pittsfield and it's good to see that some of the stores that have been there since the 50's still exist. I never bought anything at Fran's but I think he outfitted just about every band in town.
