9-11 Blues Jam

Postby dubtrub » Sat Sep 11, 2010 9:09 pm

Whew! I don't think I've played so much in one day as I have the last ten years. Today was the Blues jam at Trout's and as promised I took out my Mosrite clone that I built. Man, that guitar was in rare form as it just sang through all those Albert Collins, B.B. King and Buddy Guy tunes. I was playing through the clubs Fender Twin Reverb and the guitar was at it's best.

I've been reluctant to take out a Mosrite guitar simply because I was anticipating it not to go over with the Blues crowd. What a misunderstanding! Everyone was crazy about the guitar and the Bluesy tones coming out of it. I played off and on for about four hours and let everyone that wanted try it out. That guitar was passed around more than a half empty whiskey bottle. To say everyone was impressed with the sound of Ed Elliott's pickups and Semie Moseley's designed body and neck shape would be an understatement.

I guess it's too bad I'm not in the business to build and sell custom built guitars as I could have easily sold three today. I did however, advised everyone they could get one similar at Arties Front Porch Music. I must have passed out 20 business cards advertising our Mosrite forum also.

One cool thing that happened is I met a player that also has a 60's style surf group and we will be hooking up in a week or so to see if we can get something going to play at the local car shows.

At any rate, here are a few shots taken during the day's session.

Very nice Danny! Now, where's that thread in which someone posted: Has anyone played a Mosrite while playing the Blues? ;)
make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Sounds like a blast! Not a surprise to me that your Ellison Custom can sing the blues - with the high output Elliott pickups you could drive the front end of that Twin like few other guitars could.

BTW, did you take the red one to match the shirt? ;)

Keep us informed on the surf band jam too!

Its alway a crapshoot what guitar to bring to a Blues jam. Most of the time I take my 63 ES355 and that get you excepted right away. I also have taken Jackson Soloist or BC Rich Mockingbird and get a luke warm (at best) reception unless someone knows me.

Nah! It just ended up that way. The red one was already in the guitar case ready to go and sun burst was still in the stand. It does show up better against the black t shirt more than the s/b one would.

jtr654,

Isn't it funny how the Blues people identify a players talent judging by the guitar he has? If it isn't a generic already accepted Blues guitar like a Strat or a Les Paul, folks think you're either a beginner or a hard rock player.

So what's with the two guys on stage with you playing SGs? Just a stage full of beginners, I guess. :)
