I think I need to start going to MA meetings

Postby GTSP » Fri Sep 24, 2010 3:28 pm

I just saw this on the Guitar Center website. It is in Orlando & priced at $1,199.99.

I'm starting to comprimise my retirement for these guitars. Now than I think of it, these will probably increase in value more than any crummy 401(k).
In order of purchase:
1) Mosrite Ranger
2) V88
3) Stereo 350
4) Hallmark II in Johnny Blue
5) Danelectro '66
6) Celebrity III
7) Hallmark Gospel
8) Serenade
9) Eastwood 300

I'm still holding out for a Combo with the full trem. If it makes you feel any better, one of the reasons we haven't moved and upgraded house-wise is due to my lil' guitar addiction.

I put some money down to hold it. I'm checking it out on Monday or Tuesday. If it is as good as it looks, I'll grab it.

So, in other news, it looks as though Guitar Center has reversed its stance that Mosrite does not exist, and has started acknowledging the existence of something better than the Big Two, even though 'none of them along the line :x know what any of it is worth!'
For our sakes, let's hope they don't get wise. Look at what Guitar Center alone has done to the price of some of the older (30 yrs plus) Fender amps. Mojo aside, what can you do onstage with a tweed wide-panel Harvard with an eight-inch speaker and three watts that sells for two grand?
Go on their website and look at "Vintage Gear!"
Or look at some of the 'signature' Strats and pauls (no longer entitled to capitalization) that they're selling with the paint not even dry (personal experience) for the price of a used car that runs.
A real 1950's goldtop now goes for the down payment on a house.
Even if it's not real, ( see Ed Roman!)
Think what these people could do to the price of a Mark I.
I could rave on and on, but as the north wind says, you get my drift.

I was drooling over that one, too. I picked up my '68 MK I at a super price from the Guitar Center in Fresno ... it had just come been listed online when I happened to spy it. A phone call later, and I owned it! Good luck with the Combo ..

That is exactly what I did. It was listed as "Just Arrived". Th price was really good for what was described. The sales guy said that, if I don't like it when I get there & play it, they can take the charge off of my credit card.

I thought $1,200.00 for a combo was a great deal.
