Link Wray

Postby wombat » Sat Oct 02, 2010 6:37 pm

I'm a fan of Link Wray, and I don't think that I know anyone in my "real people life" that share this interest.
I was daydreaming of his guitar playing when I suddenly thought about my weird online friends and said, "ah ha! I bet I can find some believers here!"

Well... does anybody raise their hand?

Yeah, and Rumble was banned from the radio for being too suggestive. I think it's hysterical that people cover Run Chicken Run since they used to play that one to make people leave the club. Ahh, how times have changed.

Got to be...even the jazzy font on the record sleeve ties him up with The Ventures' jazzy font logo and The Ventures covered "RUMBLE" too (album Rock & Roll Forever 1972 with Harvey Mandel on lead). Rumble is a good number to get the vibrato in my amp going again! ;)

Was listening to "Rumble: The Best of Link Wray" on my Zune at work Friday ... Way ahead of his time ...

Way cool! Personal faves are "Jack the Ripper" and "Climbing a High Wall".
