Celebrity Bass

Postby wombat » Sun Oct 17, 2010 9:55 am

There is a local pawn shop near me that has had a Celebrity bass hanging in it for quite some time.

About a year ago, I asked the owner how much he wanted for it. (licking my chops, dreaming of walking away with a steal) He said, "I think that one is worth about a thousand dollars."
I ended the pursuit right then, and there.

Yesterday, I drove past the shop, and saw that everything was in the parking lot with big tents, and sale banners, etc.

I did not pull in, but I thought that I'd throw it up here, and ask if anybody might be interested in this. If so, I'd be pleased to stop in and check it out.

Hi Kerry,

I would be interested in pictures and the serial number for my registry page. I'm still trying to document every Celebrity that I can.

Sarah;
I didn't have a camera, but I went to the shop and got some stats for you.
Here's some info in no particular order.

Normal looking sunburst.
Has the little orange sticker inside that says Celebrity, but doesn't say I, II or anything else.
The neck is not bound.
Nice duck feet tuning keys.
No truss rod cover.
"ash tray" not on, but he said he thinks that he has it.
Three bolt neck joint.
Binding on top and around F holes.
I'm scratching my head, trying to think if I've missed anything besides the serial number.

Ser. # Z 0208
The number on the fretboard matches the sticker in the body.

I hope that I've provided some service to you. If there is anything else that I can do to help you, please ask.

Kerry

Thank you Kerry! Well done. It sounds like a Celebrity-III in Sunburst to me. One more for the Registry page! Thanks for getting the information.

I would estimate 1967-1968.
