That would also explain why the shape of the headstock is a little different from the 60s..............

Hmm, I didn't know about the 'Wrinkle' fashion... but what can we say about the large Ventures Logo...ain't it from the sixties? :?

silk screens for the large logo still exist, so that alone doesn't set a time frame. Headstock looks more 70s.

Guys thanks for all of the great replies. I haven't seen a forum where everyone is so passionate about guitars like this forum, this is great. Sorry for the late reply and thanks on all of the great info with this guitar. I have a few more pics that might shed some more light on exactly what I have here.

Please view the link http://s838.photobucket.com/albums/zz30 ... te%20pics/

I am determined that the finish on the body and headstock top are refins. I don't think any factory would produce a sunburst this bad, it looks like a brush job and there are paint runs. It looks like thick poly coat where the big chip is. The decal is thick and it looks like the edges were sanded smooth, it is very rough and I would say it is an aftermarket job.

Any insight into the electronics would be appreciated, they look Japanese to me. The pots have 78 stamped into them, is this a 1978 code like with CTS pots?

Thanks for your time and this forum rocks!

Dave.

The pots and switch look to be CTS and Switchcraft. The workmanship on the wiring is horrible, but you should be able to find the actual EIA codes on the pots.

If you show photos of the pickups (front and back) it will also help.
