Even though I read that Don Wilson once sang under the name of "Don Dixon", and recorded a couple songs back in the early days, I was never aware of this song by him.....
The music is "Love Goddess of Venus", from the Space album........but he puts words to it.....

Re: Don Wilson of the Ventures ...vocal....
Good find Roger, this take is still missing from my collection and the first time I ever heard it!
Not a huge surprise hearing it though, knowing the 1963 instrumental very well, as well as being familiar with Don's singing voice
If my notes are correct, "Sally" appeared on a single 45 rpm in 1966 (Liberty 55890) and is also one of the tracks featured on their 1980 vinyl LP "Rare Collections" of which I would love to have a copy in CD-R format...
More of Don's vocals appeared on said LP, such as " 't 'aint Funny", "What'd I Say", "Behind Those Stained Glass Windows", "Tell Laura I Love Her".
Incidentaly, it so happens "t 'aint Funny" is also put up on youtube ...simply Don's voice put to "A Go-Go Dancer" from their album "Ventures a go-go", 1965.

I did read that Don Wilson enjoyed doing impersonations of Walter Brennan in the late fifties, e.g. "The Real McCoy" (Blue Horizon 100 and on cd "In The Vaults vol.3")Veenture wrote:Danny Kaye?dubtrub wrote:I recognize the Gabby Hayes impersonation but not the other. Who was that suppose to be?
