Howdy! I recently acquired a Mosrite Avenger. I'm assuming that this is actually one of those Japanese copies from the 70's. It has a translucent cherry-red finish, a "MOSELEY" tailpiece, and Mosrite-stamped pickups. The neck plate is square. What's really cool is that this guitar has a combination of tiny Mosrite frets and a BIG neck! It plays great!
I'm not sure if I will be able to keep it, so I need to know - what is it exactly, when was it made, and what is it worth?

an avenger is one of the first copies from japan. They were made by Firstman which i believe turned into Fillmore.
I think the avengers & modern "excellents" are the best giging mosrites

Re: ID help needed. Avenger?
sloop_john_b, I thought you were describing my guitar at first. I have a cherry red(not quite translucent) Mosrite with the same trem tailpiece, pickups, and square neck plate. That's the headstock in my icon photo. However my Mosrite has a skinny neck. I was told it was an Avenger from the 70's. I don't know what they're worth because I got it in a trade from a friend who also got it in a trade. I traded a 70's silverface Deluxe Reverb for it. I wish I could tell you more. But the guitar sounds great, and once I get into skinny-neck mode, it plays great! I'm hoping to post a video of the guitar in action one of these days.
