I found a new guitar book simply called Guitar and it's produced by a guy named Michael Heatley. As I do with all such books I come across I checked to see if Mosrite scored a mention and sure enough it did. I was pleased at first to see a large picture of a red Ventures model spread across a couple of pages but I couldn't help wondering why they stuck in a shot of a Mosrite with white Fender knobs and white plastic tuners, plus a missing vibrato arm. Jeez couldn't they find a pic of an unmodified one to put in there? I mean to say it's not like they're hard to find.
Oh well at least they didn't get ignored completely as is the case with most guitar books.
New guitar book.

Mosrite certainly deserves a 'centerfold' score, IMOmosman wrote:I was pleased at first to see a large picture of a red Ventures model spread across a couple of pages.

Re: New guitar book.
The book is called "Stars and Guitars" which shows the guitars used by different star guitarists. Maybe that particular Mosrite was modified by that star?
BTW, is it a good book? Good color pictures? Thinking of buying this book from Amazon.

Re: New guitar book.
This book is just called 'Guitar' and it's pretty good with mostly good colour shots but its one drawback is that a few of the pictures are blurry repros and detract from the overall quality. Still it's worth checking out if you see it.
As far as famous users goes, in the Mosrite section there's a shot of Johnny Ramone, which makes sense but then there's pics of lesser-known users from Arcade Fire and a British band called Absentee playing Mosrites; the last one being a Combo which is described in the caption as an "odd looking Mosrite". The Ventures received only a scant mention which is odd considering the Mosrite pictured has the Ventures logo on the headstock. Should have been worth a paragraph at least.
At least the book gives Semie credit as the Mosrite's creator.

Thanks, Mosman:
Is this the same book?
If so, I'll pass on this one. I was hoping it shows some photos of The Ventures, The Shadows, Dick Dale, Beach Boys and other surf/instrumentals players.
Thanks for the info. If he couldn't even get the Mosrites info right, this book is not for me. Just saved me $17.

Thanks Danny and Mosman:
After I checked with Amazon website, I think they are the same book with different names and front covers. "Guitar" is the updated version, I believe.
There was an used "Guitar" book for sales at great price, so I just bought it.

You might consider both books. I don't think they are the same.

Thanks, Sarah. I probably will after I receive my first one.
Have anyone here read the "Stars & Guitars"? (any surf guitarist?)
