Another New Member from J'ville

Postby SurferBill » Fri Dec 31, 2010 12:44 pm

New Member Here,

Last night I was at Jack Rabbits, our local live music dive (and probably my favorite place to see live music). I was there to see Drivin' N Cryin', a band from Atlanta which had moderate success way back in the day. I wasn't a big fan of the band in the 80s, but they rocked the house for three hours last night...a great show. Members here who know the band probably know band leader Kevn Kinney plays a Mosrite. I met the guitar tech before the show and he let me strap on one of the two he had.

My daughter and I write and play surf music under the name Shoot The Pier - http://www.reverbnation.com/shootthepier , http://www.myspace.com/shootthepier I've been a member of Surfguitar101 for a year. I play a 62 AVRI Jazzmaster, but would love an original Mosrite at some point. It seems the market for a "new" one is really screwed up. I was reading the Mosrite history and found the forum.

Thanks,

Bill

Hey, Bill--

Shoot The Pier is a great band name!

I'm from your neck of the woods; born in Fernandina and our family farm is in Callahan. Grew up mostly in Naples, though.

Good luck on the hunt for your own Mosrite! I've been lucky, thanks to a buddy named Bob Shade, and a couple of Mosrite forum members who have guided me and even sold me a guitar!

This is the best forum I know of; great folks and super knowledgeable!!!

Man, I've done much reading about these beautiful guitars the past few days, the complicated history, the many sleezeballs out there, the quality clones. It's a real Peyton Place out there! What is so cool are the comments from all you forum Mosrite experts when some guitar shows up on ebay or a website. This or that many neck screws not correct on a particular year guitar, wrong signatures, colors, fret wires, etc. I thoroughly love my 62 AVRI Jazzmaster and will never sell it...but I really want a Mosrite sometime this year. Can I hire you guys as purchasing consultants?

Bill

That's cool, you 'guys' nail that surfy-reverb sound to a T. My fav track must be SUNRISE GIRLS...with that groovy voice-over of your daughter, a perfect recipe for a hit!
