Buying a new Amp ... any sugestions??

Oops. Your right, got my Super Sonics mixed up. Personally I would go for the DRRI. I really do not like amps with "burn" channels since I can be picky about that. I tend to run a Barber Burn Unit or a Lovepedal Les Luis into my DRRI for dirt.

yeah good call i am gonna try them both out, in australia they havn't issued the SS22 yet sooo i'll wait till i get to play it.

I've played through a super sonic and it's a pretty rad little amp. I'm also really fond of the Fender super champ xd there isn't any tone on it you can't do without. It's what I'm gasing for right now just a small practice amp.

I'm sure I'm pretty late on this one, but Fender Hot Rod amps are great, and there are many resources on modding them- they're like the Honda Civic of guitar amps! I'm very happy with my Deville 410.

I'm really stoked about my Orange amp too. I debuted it with one of my surf bands and got many praises, which was particularly cool because I've always been an advocate of American amps for clean tone. I'm kinda proud to be the weirdo playing surf through himbuckers and a British amp!

I was in awe of all the vintage gear including a fender champ '55 that sounded awesome! looked beat up tho

Okay, here's a comment from way out in left field... I use Roland Cube amps, super sound that cuts just about any mix, and with appropriate tweaking, the amp models can easily rival the tube-fed versions they emulate. I use the Jazz Chorus, Black Panel, Deluxe Combo, and Marshall Stack with real nice results. The bonus for me is small box (30 lbs), transistor reliability, and 80 watts of mojo. The 90 sec. loop recorder is real nice too when you're out there by yourself. And...it will run a 4x12 in its sleep!

I know, tube purists are squirming right now, but check them out, turn up the presence, and discover that Roland has closed the gap...a lot!

I'm a big tube fan, but yeah, the Roland solid state amps are top notch. The other guitarist in one of my surf bands has pretty much always used a JC 120, and has always sounded great. The 2 12" speakers all but defeat the weight saving bonus of solid state amps, and it may be psychological, but I still prefer a real tube sound. Really though, great clean tones, great reverb, great amp! Roland/Boss is the way to go if you're interested in modeling.
