i have a really odd mosrite celebrity im looking for info

Postby rattler360 » Fri Jan 21, 2011 9:13 pm

i have a really odd mosrite celebrity, its got a Acoustic logo on the headstock, and from various things ive heard a bartell neck, its black with white pickguard and binding, defiantely a mosrite body and neck, pickups and harware. some other have told me it could be a prototype of the acoustic black widow, shown it to several people including gruhn guitars.

Hey congratulations! I'd like to hear all about it. Did you buy it from Gio Guitars? Eddy is a member here and has a website: http://www.efelliottguitars.com/ where you can see more of his excellent work. I've had my eye on that one for quite a while but just couldn't get it into the budget.

no i bought it from vintage silvertones, as i had already bought a black widow from gruhn guitars just before i bought it from vintage silvertones, it plays well, ive been trying to track the history on the guitar for the longest, like i posted above if heard various verisions on how it came to be.

The Mosrite story has many twists and turns. I don't know how one would go about placing a value on this particular guitar. We know directly from the source how these three guitars came into being. Silvertone obviously did not have their facts straight and I'm not surprised. It seems that when something a little different comes along then the first conclusion is that it must be a "prototype".

Personally, considering the history of this guitar and where the parts came from I think it has a certain appeal and if the guitar is in good shape and plays well, etc, then I think it's worth as much as a Celebrity-III. That's my humble opinion on that. I'd love to have one myself.

it plays really well, may need a refret but my guitar guy has got it playing well, ive had a setup done to it, i paid around 900 for it from silvertones it has typical nicks and scratches, its the original finish far as i can tell, for a guitar its age i think its in great shape.
