In footage of a Dutch TV program called "Single Luck", I've seen Nokie Edwards pull a pick from his pants pocket where he had a whole bunch of 'em; probably to hand out to fans too ;)
I myself usually carry 3 different sizes in my shirt (breast)pocket. When wearing a T-shirt or so, I do it the 'Nokie-way', minus the fans part though

My personal method was to attatch them to the guitar with a small piece of blu-tack.

if you want to be like Johnny he used electrical tape on the upper horn of the guitar and taped the picks to the guitar. duct tape can remove finish from an instrument. also Johnny and CJ both had a row of picks taped to the edge of the drummer riser in case they needed to grab one in a hurry, I did this too, but also kept some on top of the amp and attached them to my mic stand.

good luck at that show, wheres the location? i did some shows in allentown myself. I was in a band called VPR. right before we started I think our third song our singer Sean said "this is our new guitarist Aaron, and this is his first show with us. So... if you screws up hit him with something heavy!"

well i did screw up bad that night, but fortunately for me no one ever took him up on that offer. lol.

have fun! try to get some pics on the forum of the show.
Cheers,
Aaron

I played in Beaverdale, PA, how close is that to Allantown? Hard to see in the pic but there is a mic stand pick holder there, here's a pic from that show
