Looks like another work of art entering the world... Those pickups look like dual-taps; if that's the case you have several wiring options that could be exploited with push-pull pots...

Your joke about the fretboard being plastic doesn't scare John one bit. Don't forget he's Swedish, they invented the artificial wood fretboard.
Among other cool things like dynamite and stuff.
