Sarah;
I finished the pick guard template tonight, so I will get it to you A.S.A.P. I want the REDIST tortoise you can find.
I'm going to put more of an arch between the pickups on the pick guard.

I modified the pickguard, and added a few components just to get the feel of how it looks.
I know I keep changing things and I should wait to post photos, but after the fact, I realize it could be better and I change things a bit.
I know it's not professional, but keep in mind that before last July, I had never even owned a guitar, or played one. So this is all new to me. I'm learning as I go and this is my first scratch built guitar. I've put one parts guitar together before, but this is the first ground up.

You've done a bang-up job so far, and especially for a first from-scratch effort. This is turning out great. Keep it up. It'll be interesting to hear it when completed. Are you going to paint it? If so, what color might you be considering?

I think I will paint the body and headstock Black, and the back of the neck an amber or yellowed effect. My Dobro has a yellowed neck, and I love the look. I was originally going to do a two tone maybe Gold/Black burst, but I'm not that good. However the body being very easy to strip, I may attempt it just for Sh**S and Giggles.
If the paint gets ugly, all I have to do is soak a rag in acetone and wipe it off.
Even though the material is very easy and very forgiving, I doubt I would do another resin body. My next one will be Wood. Unless of course I can find a slab of Titanium.

Dan, why wouldn't you do resin again for a body? It looks as though it is a viable medium.

It seems to me that wood would be less forgiving than resin.

Of course, I am the absolute world's worst at anything crafty.

Jim;
I think I will MAYBE do one more to try to get it right. :shock:
I need to lighten it up some.
Right now the body and neck weight in at about 8 lbs., as seen in the latest photo. I realize Les Pauls will top that but I would really like to know the Mosrite Ventures soaking wet weight.
I'm very thankful that my entire working career has prepared me for retirement.

To prevent any possible stress cracks from screws, I drill out each hole and epoxied in a hardwood dowel.

Here's a photo of the dowel inserts.
