Re: Venture a Guess ?
The standard Switchcraft lever switch is threaded 8-32.

Therein lies the problem.
Many reproduction or replaced switches, so which way to go ?
Will the demand be greater for 6-32 Mosrite replacements, or Switchcraft compatible ?
I made my examples 8-32, then I used a small piece of black 2 mill plumbers tape, carefully wrapped the thread and screwed on the knob, works perfectly and I don't plan to remove it.

I guess it wouldn't be that much trouble to make both, which would be the more popular, I think probably the Switchcraft style, 8-32.

Re: Venture a Guess ?
I re-checked and 8X32 is the correct thread. My previous post has been corrected so it doesn't confuse someone at a later date.
The way I make switch tips is to use a piece 3/8" of rod about eight inches long and chuck it in my lather. I then center drill it and tap the threads while still in the lathe. I then turn it to shape and finish off by turning it down to the flat area on the tip and keep turning until it is ready to separate from the stock. I only remove the stock from the lathe after the tip is basically completed.

Danny;
In my previous description of how I made the original few I made, that is how I did them. I made the contour tool to make it a one time pass so I was fairly sure all would be almost the same.
Also I keep forgetting that my Dobro has an aftermarket selector switch.

OK folks, You demanded Brass, you've got Brass. Tomorrow, you will have plated Brass. I made this Brass selector knob this evening, I'll Chrome it Tomorrow, I don't have a nickel plating set up, but I'm going to buy the stuff from Caswell, they make good plating stuff.

Danny;
Being that the knobs are tapered, do you use a 4 jaw, 3 jaw, or collet chuck. Once you take it from the chuck threaded, how do you hold the threaded end while shaping the taper etc. On my original ones I screwed it onto a piece of Screw I cut off so I could hold it in the chuck.
