New (to me) combo coming

Postby dagogo » Mon Feb 27, 2012 9:37 pm

So I have gotten really into archtops lately...especially older guilds. As it happens, last week I stumbled across the photo of a celebrity online. Oddly enough, it had never actually even occurred to me that mosrite had built any semi or full acoustic guitars...of course I was intrigued. Just for kicks I searched mosrite on the guitar center vintage site. Well, in addition to some very expensive ventures models, up popped this sweet looking mosrite with an F-hole and it was almost affordable. After a bit of research I decided to take a chance and bought it.

They unfortunately took the link down already but you can see it if you search "mosrite combo guitar center"
http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=guitar%20center%20combo%20mosrite&oe=UTF-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&tbm=isch&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi

It's a sunburst model with a clear coat headstock & 3 bolt neck. They had it listed at 1599 but i was able to manage 10% off so I didn't think the price was too bad...at least based on the ebay asking prices. In any event, there is a 3 day return policy so I can check it out and return it if there are any major problems.

Looks like I should be getting it in a couple days so I'll be sure and post some photos. The best part of this is, ironically, or perhaps better put, poetically, I had intended to list my eastwood sidejack on ebay this week:)

Congratulations, I think you got it for a decent price. I've also been thinking "Perhaps I should get a Combo" But I still have to restore my Ventures II. Also, I didn't know Guitar Center shipped vintage guitars. Thanks, Now I know where else to buy vintage Mosrites if the need arises, He he.

Congrats. Good on you. Great price, too. In this opinion the Combo is every bit as hot as the Mk I and with a personality all its own. S*xy and elegant in a different way than the solidbody, though a Mo through and through.

Enjoy

'Never saw a 3-bolt neck, but Combos are so rare and un-written about....

Congratulations, dagogo, I hope it will turn out to be a keeper for you. I agree with Haole Jim that Combos are great lookers and although I've never played one I'm sure they're great players too.
