I had no idea about the convex carve on the lower horn on these model until just now. wow, even when someone is on this forum as much as I am, I still learn something new all the time! :)

Nope. It's a concave carve all the way around. What you are thinking is convex is actually pickguard overhang a la Rickenbacker (where'd ya think Semie copped it from?) These early German carves don't have a flat surface for the pickguard like the later carves we're all used to.

What a historic guitar. Thanks for showing us, Adam. I like the "mini-mistake plates" for the pick ups; hillbilly engineering at it's best! Love it. :D

Thanks for clarifying my statement Danny. From my understanding there’s only about ten pre-ventures models like this made. Do we know which ones had this different carve from the others? It did look like the models Adam showed us did have a concave carve, so I’m wondering is this something Semie was just experimenting with.
