Hardshell case that will fit a mosrite

Postby leftyjay » Sun May 13, 2012 8:57 pm

i recently bought a used lefty Fillmore Mosrite that came with a gig bag (whats up with that?)

after receiving the guitar, i was on the lookout for a hardshell case that will fit the width of a mosrite mk 1 body (14 1/2" width).

during my searching i ran across rondomusic.com and saw they had a case with the correct width. the length is 2 inches longer than needed, but that gives ample room for the headstock. its a very square case and doesnt fall over easily. and at $56.00 you cant really beat it. i now carry all my mosrites in this case so i dont mess up my expensive G&G case (it keeps falling over).

only thing i did was flip the strap compartment to have the neck bracing towards the headstock end of the guitar. when the brace was near the body, it didnt support the neck as well and the guitar tended to move around in the case.

heres what my fillmore mosrite looks like in the case

it cost me 55.95 plus 18.00 for shipping.

Thanks for letting us know about this source for cases. Everybody here knows cases that will fit a Mosrite are hard to find at decent prices. Oh sure they can be found for $250.00 dollars for the G&G cases that most Mosrite builders use but this is a very affordable alternative. Thanks again!

That's exactly why I sold one of my Mosrites without the case. I knew I'd be needing it eventually. Now if I could just find a better one for my Maphis. Right now it's in a giant hollow body case with a pillow.

Hallmark has excellent cases but you won't get one for that money. I bought one from Bob a few years ago and you couldn't ask for a better man to do business with, Bob is great.

On the same note I wonder if one of these would fit a Combo/Maphis http://www.rondomusic.com/egc-200halo.html

main thing is the depth of the guitar. if the width and body length fit, it really doesnt matter if there is a couple extra inches up near the headstock.

only thing i wasnt sure about was if the case was going to close without any problems. i was very happy to see it closes just fine.

True. But I would not trust a $56 case. Especially when gigging.

im not sure if this applies or not, but lining in some cases are not good for nitro finishes. if you have a poly finish on your guitar no worries, but if its nitro, shellac, and probably any oil finish you want to be careful to only use cases that are known to be safe. a gibson made case for example.
