Re: Artie's new acquisition
Both neck and body have August 1965 stamped on them with another number....the reason I ask is; if someone did shave the german carve off...that would put the slab body Mark II's to a lower number that Semie manufactured. Right now I am refurbing to look like the one on Arties wall with the longer point on the Mark 5 style pickguard...in red.

[quote="Dennisthe Menace] ALL Factory on the MARK II....but man-o-man!!!,Sunburst?!?!? This will make the "Burst Brothers" sweat over at (fill in the blank).
The ONLY OTHER S'Burst that I have seen on a MARK II, were on the Japanese Re-Issues, and I believe not that many were made as well.
We ALSO have a Member that joined the FORUM not to long ago, who has a "matched set" of a MARK I and II in S'burst
.
The majority of Mark IIs, were either done in a Red, White or Blue. When the Mark Vs came out, The Sunburst finish was
just 'another color' added, that became available for the "Color Chart" in the Mosrite Catalog......

heres mine MKII in sunburst

To me it looks like a german carve ventures 2 model. the shape is still the same, but yeah someone have worked on it and removed the german carve that it looks closer to a slap body. the neck is an early german carve ventures 2 modell - you can see it on the small headstock and the fretboard cut off at the bottom of the neck

"What cost $399 in 1966 would cost $2727.76 in 2011."
