Hi All - heading to Tulare for Dad's (Bill Gruggett's) funeral tomorrow. A gentleman/musician has offered to play his Gruggett guitar at the funeral. That will be very nice. His name is Richard Frost. I am looking forward to hearing that and meeting some of his fans, although it will mostly be family there. See below article-its fantastic!

Re: Bill Gruggett Guitars
Hi All
A few of you had asked about when there might be a tribute for Bill Gruggett and I have a little info on that. Bob Shade, Hallmark Guitars has notified me that at the end of January in Anaheim during the NAMM show, he and others will be playing some Gruggett, as well as Hallmark guitars in honor of my Dad, Bill. If you plan to be at the show plan to stop by and share a memory. Bob will be getting more details. Here is a photo of a Gruggett guitar for your enjoyment

Re: Bill Gruggett Guitars
Hi Kathy, thanks for posting that Gruggett guitar, man it is sweet!
Yes, for those who would like to come to the Gruggett Guitar Set in January, it will be at the 10th annual Guitar Geekfest at the Anaheim Plaza Hotel in the grand ballroom NAMM week.
I don't believe tickets are on sale just yet but for future ticket information please visit www.dekedickerson.com
Hope to see you there and please bring your Gruggett guitar!! We hope to get as many Gruggett guitars in the same room at one time as possible.
Bob

Re: Bill Gruggett Guitars
I was sorry to hear about Bill's passing. He and I emailed a couple of times, but I sure wish that I would have had the opportunity to meet him. My main stage guitar is an old Gruggett Custom. It's all mahogany including the neck and it has pick-ups that were made by Bill with his signature wood pick-up covers. I have never seen another similar to it. I am guessing it was made in late 70's? Some of you might know better than I? All I know is that it is a great sounding/playing guitar! I though you all might enjoy seeing a couple of pics of it in action!
Cheers!
John

Re: Bill Gruggett Guitars
Hi,
thanks for sharing. Your guitar is a beauty and Im sure it sounds incredible. Bill (dad) dated many of his guitars stamped into one of the frets, if that is there it will indicate the age, if not then Bob Shade of Hallmark Guitars would be best to determine the age. Nearly all his guitars were completely custom for the individual user so there is not likely one out there exactly like yours. Enjoy it forever!! Kathy (Bill's daugther)

Re: Bill Gruggett Guitars
Hi Kathy,
Thanks for responding. My guitar does not have a date stamped on any of the frets. I might drop Bob a note to see what he can tell me about it. I have about 15 guitars and this one is by far my favorite! It just fits me. If I could afford the trip right now, I would love to go down to California for the NAMM show and attend the Gruggett tribute jam!
Thanks again and take care,
John

Re: Bill Gruggett Guitars
Just got back from the Deke Dickerson show at NAMM that played this past weekend with the Gruggett Guitars tribute. It was fabulous and I want to thank Deke and Bob Shade for putting that together in honor of my dad. It was so incredible to hear 15 Gruggett guitars playing at one time!! The Lead guitarists were so talented!! I will post some photos of the show within the week so watch for them!
Thanks again guys

Re: Bill Gruggett Guitars
Here is a portion of the Gruggett Tribute at the Deke Dickerson Guitar Geek festival in Anaheim this past weekend. During the show 14 guitarists played Gruggett guitars at same time. The sound was incredible!!--14 guitarists all playing Wipe Out at same time at one point! I was honored to have Eugene Moles come all the way from Nashville to play as lead guitarist amongst others. He did that to honor the long term friendship between his dad and mine, Gene Moles and Bill Gruggett. Both go all the way back to where they started their careers with Mosrite and I believe they were both there in spirit that night enjoying the show!! Last photo is Bob Shade with Hallmark guitars and myself. Thanks Bob for such a fabulous tribute and being such a great friend to our family
