yeah that's what i've figured out based on other models and years.
but of course there's no rhyme or reason sometimes.
i would guess tho that they wouldn't be using mid-65 pots past maybe a year?

one other "odd" thing about my combo
the serial number on the sticker in the F-hole says: H-0970
but on the fretboard it's stamped: H 0 9 7504
(and extra 5 and 4 were tucked in there between the last 2 numbers)

it's got pots from '65 / no neck plate (just 4 bolts) and no ® on the pickups- just the mosrite logo (meaning earlier pickups)

Thanks everybody for all the great information!

I think I might hold off on the Combo in my area and try and wait until I have the money together for a nicer example.

Either way I go I'll let everyone know when I acquire one!

Cheers!

By the way we have the arm you need for that tailpiece too.

Hi Bob,

I'd need an arm , spring and whatever else would be needed. What would the cost be?

Thanks!

Evening all,

Well I bit the bullet and bought the Combo in my local area. After looking it over again for the second time, It's not anywhere near as bad as I thought. I got a quote of $75 for the doweling and resetting of the tremolo and a basic tuneup. I'm very excited that I followed through and bought the guitar. Can't wait to get her strung back up and let the first chords ring out on this soon to be resurrected beauty!

Cool - congratulations! Let us know how the repair goes. Great that a vintage Mosrite will be returning to playing condition.
Oy vey - it's MESHUGGA BEACH PARTY - The world's premier Jewish Surf Music Band!

Congrats on the Mosrite score!

The arm including the screw and special washers is $69.00 plus $5.00 shipping. You can Paypal me directly @ shadeplus3@aol.com.

If you decide you would like to save the $75.00 on the repair, it is a simple one. Get a hardwood dowel that is a snug fit in the existing hole, or you can but one a hair larger and re-drill the hole. Cut sections about 1/4" long and take some wood glue and tap them into place. Let the glue dry, then drill the holes for the screws ( smaller than the screw) and re-mount the plate. It will cost you about $2.00 for the dowel and a little glue and about 15 minutes of time.

Good luck and let me know if you have need any more advise or parts.

Thanks for the advice Bob!

I was initially adverse to drilling out the holes myself considering it's a vintage piece and I just put all the money I had from selling my Jaguar into it, but I got the nerve to do it myself anyway. I know it's not rocket science but... taking sharp rotating cutting blades to a vintage guitar that's not easily replaced makes me a little nervous ;)

I had to drill out the holes to 5/16 because the plate screws had pulled far forward. On my way to get some 5/16 hardwood doweling cut to size now and glue those suckers into place!

Have a great afternoon!

-Kevin
