I would say the same about the parting out of Mosrites BUT if original Ventures Model Mosrites are being rejuvinated from post Ventures Model parts, then it seems it will increase the number of the original Ventures Model's and decrease the number of the post Ventures era models. That could decrease the value of an original Ventures Model but I think we'd have to see it happen on a larger scale than it is now.

I don't think we'd see a substantial increase in the number of Ventures models, but we'd see a higher number of them in good condition - there are only so many Mosrite necks with the logo and the correct serial number range, but these necks could wind up getting mated to later bodies in better shape than the original. Maybe we'd also see more post Ventures guitars in bad condition?

That's a good point - there are only a fixed number of original V-Models so they won't actually increase in number. I shoulda said the parting-out process will increase the availability of original V-Models that might otherwise be unplayable. We'd just see more original models coming back from the grave or beat up ones showing up in improved condition. I'm sure these kinda mash-ups have been going on since the vintage market took off in the '80's.

Why worry? There are recipes for apple pies as there are ways to get close enough to that Mosrite tone and you can't make a brown leaf green again so why try? The tone changed slightly since it left the factory, Anyway.

On another note, I remember Hankeroo tried to sell a Cherryburst MK I or Ventures model about three years ago at $1,599 or so and nobody bought it so it was parted out and overall, He got more than $1,599 for all the parts.

I.e., can one repair a vintage guitar with new parts?

To the best of my knowledge, I believe that all of the Japanese parts are Metric size in which
the American is SAE (Society of Automotive Engineers). They are VERY close, but they are
still different, in which one will not fit the other , so judge accordingly..... .

I know that the Kurikomo M-Hat knobs are without the numbers on the "brim". The Kurimomo vibro-mute casting doesn't look exactly right either. Those are two things that a mildly trained eye would detect right away if they were slapped on an original. -Marty

Will the Vibramute from a Fillmore or a Fillmore U.S.A. (Dana MK I) fit an 65-66 Bakersfield Guitar?.
