ur welcome waldorf. yes, raising the action and refretting the guitar with larger frets

Yes it will, it's a DEFINITE PROVEN fact.
this guitar plays like butter, and the super low action, is one of the major reasons I
feel in love with mosrites in the first place.

My '88 that I had "Special Ordered" has the so called Med Jumbo Frets, HOWEVER,
the strings are practically 'laying' on the Fretboard (and I'm NOT KIDDING!) .
I wanted to recoil the pickups anyway, just cuz I've always thought they were a little
too low in output, I'm just hoping it can give me more sustain in the process.

More windings on a Pick-up will make it easier to give your instrument that "Driving Guitars"
sound in a clean mode. This will also depend on how you set your EQ on the amp, and you also
got to remember, these are JUST THE BASICS ;) . Remember, the Frets and Pick-ups are your
basic starting point for sustain. Since my '88 DOES HAVE the Med Jumbo Frets, and the
Humbuckers (which I can still split the Coils), this is why I can put her up against any
Paul Reed Smith (PRS), any model Gibson, or ANY guitar with that type of set up. She just seems
to have that Devilish Type of "Don't Get in My Face" Attitude as far as sound goes  .
But the thing that's making me disgusted at this very moment, is that I can't make it out to
the "Geek Fest" and meet all of you Folks ......Yeah, I know....there's always next year.... .

P.S. I really wanted to show this guitar ever so badly

What a treat, and all in such detail :!:
Absolutely fascinating to see the pics and read the threads. Yes, we live and learn all the time...
thanks for sharing Aaron.

String hight makes more difference than most would think. I have my guitars setup with a bit higher action than most. I have read (from Paul Yandell) that Chet Atkins had his action set so high on the lower strings that it was almost unplayable for most guitar players. That was a big part of his tone. Of course having a God given talent didn't hurt.

dennis! you gotta take some pics for me! i wanna see this guitar.

on my johnny ramone model, it has medium jumbo frets, and I don't like it as much as the mosrite speed frets.

Aaron: Thanks for the great photos! We need more of these around here.

A few questions for you and the board.
When all your work was done has the sustain gotten any better?

Is your pickguard original 4 ply w/b/w/b?

Did all Mosrite bolt on necks originally use the two interior screws? I've seen them on some, but not all.

hey,
your welcome guys. everything on my mosrite is original, except for the things I've replaced. which is the original toggle (it started to stick), the tuners, the strap locks, and the toggle washer I added. also the decal. I still own all the original pieces and the original case.

I bought this guitar in 2000 on ebay. the original owner was a country musician, and he died and left it to his cousin. the guitar was untouched since the 1970's. when I got it, there was even rust on the backplates and on the frets!!!!

the pickguard is original, but it's a b/w/b/w guard. the black part of the guard is .30mm thick, and the white part is .60mm thick.
the additional screws are original to the guitar, but I dont know if this was something mosrite did all the time or not. when my guitar came out in the early 70's, it was basically a mark 1 deluxe model. humbuckers, extra electronics, and larger dot inlays. the neck is a little wider then the 60's mosrites too., this particular model guitar is what made Semie go bankrupt the 2nd time around 1975 or so. this guitar is one of the later made V2's, I think it was made in mid to late 73.
it will be interesting when I take apart my other V2 model, I've never actually removed the neck before, so I'm just as curious as you guys probably are to see if my other V2 has the 6 neck screws or 4. the next one is a littler older, made probably in 72.
by the way, I do have more sustain now, and I think the guitar seems to resonant a little better then before.
Cheers,
Aaron
