Re: Deke's Guitar Geek Festival
Wow - what a show!
First off, a huge THANK YOU to Deke Dickerson for putting together this event - a fantastic showcase of music and instruments!
It was great getting to see old friends and meet some of the gang from the forum here. I agree with Danny, we should try to plan any forum events around the Geek Festival. It was a great time and well worth the drive.
It's hard to pick highlights as far as music or gear was concerned, but overall the highlight to me was how friendly and enthusiastic the players, builders and fans all are.
I took lots of pictures, too many to post here, so I'll get a flickr set together and post a link. In the meantime, Danny, share your pictures with abandon!

Re: Deke's Guitar Geek Festival
That was an absolutely mind-blowing concert. A great introduction to not only Mosrite guitars, but also the music of Joe Maphis and the guitar playing of Brian Lonbeck. I' going to have to look into these guys! The surf arrangement of "Sheena Is a Punk Rocker" was great.
The Bakelite band was really cool, too - though I'd say they demonstrated how unforgiving those old electric-Spanish Rickenbackers are to play!

Re: Deke's Guitar Geek Festival
Since Mel is going to be posting a link to his photo's I'll go ahead and post a couple more shot's for your viewing pleasure.
Here's a couple of Adam's Brass Rails along with a later model sidejack.

These are very unique toilet seat guitars for people who play like Sh*t.

This is a sidejack standing in front of a 60's Guyatone amp.

What a phenomenal collection of guitars! Great photo documentation. We need a place to store those as a reference library.
