hey guys,
I got to try out a 50th anniversary today (blue sparklie!) and I have mix feeling on it. this guitar looked real nice, but I personally thought it was sub par to my 70's mosrites. the whammy bar was too small and the pickguard overhung. it just didn't play like american mosrites. beautiful guitar though. this was the first time I got to play a mosrite with a vibrimute tailpiece, so it looked real cool up close.
what do you guys think about fillmore stuff? I like my johnny ramone mosrite, but this one really feel short in my eyes.

Re: 50th Anniversary Mosrites from Fillmore
That sucks to hear. I really do wish there was a shop here in Orlando, or even Florida that had a vintage Mosrite I could try, along with a Custom 60, and a Excellent, and a Fillmore. A bit of a wet dream, really. Well, in guitar land anyway.
Is there anyone on this board that would be willing to make vids of their guitars, play some tunes and talk about them in general and put them on youtube or whatever? Just a thought. I did find the two mp3s of someone playing their vintage Mos and their Hallmark to compare the two - very nice. Video takes it up a notch and I think there would be enough interest around the planet to make it worthwhile.
BTW was it anything like this one? I found it on gbase.com

I'd say that the pickguard overhangs on about 2/3rd's of the 1960's Mosrites I've seen.

Re: 50th Anniversary Mosrites from Fillmore
hey justin,
I believe this is the exact same guitar. the store where I played it had it listed on gbase. don't get me wrong, the guitar was nice, but I'm use to american mosrites, before I got mine I tried out a mark v, a V88, and I've played a few 12/6 doublenecks, and I thought all of these were better made and played better. I guess it's like comparing japanese fenders to american made, it's close, but no cigar, so to speak.
sucks for me too, I was dying to get one of these, and now I'm kinda glad I didn't sink the 4 grand into what mr. las vagas was asking for them.
I will say this, the 50th anniversary logo is pretty cool. it's printed on the underneath of the pickguard, and the top part of the guard is actually clear. neat look.

Re: 50th Anniversary Mosrites from Fillmore
hey dennis,
this was a store, my favorite music store in the wash dc area, action music. they always have cool stuff there. that's where I've played 3 or 4 celebrities, a JM double neck, they had a old fuzzrite there that i'm still kicking myself for letting it get away.
they have cool old fenders, gibsons, and cool amps too. I got to try out an original 57 tv yellow LP special too. only 19,400 for it
what a steal lol.
