Cool pic, Adam!
I heard somewhere that when Semie first arrived in CA he got work in Hollywood in front of the cameras in some westerns. If I remember correctly, it was bit parts in some of those Republic and Monogram serials. He was a rough and tumble guy who could handle some stunt work. Was Semie good with horses? That would certainly get you work on westerns back in those days if you had the right looks...and Semie looks the part.

Re: Photos of Semie Moseley
Enjoying the pictures Adam, thank you!
Sorry to say I have more questions than answers these days, but can anyone name the people in the Gospel band photo with the bus?
And what was or is Roberto-Venn?
Thanks in advance.
PS that picture with Semie & Johnny Ramone is really funny!

This is from the Mosrite US website on the About Mosrite History page. http://www.mosrite.us/en/index.html
Totally wiped out, Semie Moseley moved in with his father into the house he had purchased for him a few years previously, and went back to the music ministry. Semie Moseley then taught his friend Bob Venn how to build the guitars which Semie could build so well. Semie continued building custom guitars in Arizona and the Bakersfield area. He was even building guitars for Japanese customers. Also, he was supplying parts on a small scale until 1978.
If this is true, then apparently he taught him well, however there is no mention that Semie was his mentor. http://www.roberto-venn.com/

I do not know if Semie was his mentor or if Bob Venn ever worked at Mosrite, but they certainly were friends from Bakersfield. When Bob moved from Bakersfield to Arizona, he brought with him a parts cache of hundreds of Mosrite bodies that was unfortunately destroyed in an arson fire at the school.

Re: Photos of Semie Moseley
Some folks lead dull, predictable, uninteresting lives. Semie was not one of those.
Anyone attempting a Semie Moseley biography will have his work cut for him. But it would be a story worth reading!

Part of what drew me here was the lack of info on such a great American brand. Is anyone keeping a record of Semie's signatures?
