According to Dana's interview posted elsewhere, her Dad designed the Danamite for her but never finished it. Was it called the Danamite or the Double Axe? Does someone have the story stretched a little?

Let's just say that Dana's story in the German interview is far from accurate. And the name "Danamite Wave" is a Fillmore invention. Semie did start a Double Axe for Dana in 1988 that he never completed, four years after the originals were unveiled at NAMM.

Well, it's not exactly the same guitar. There were 3 or 4 Double Axes on display at the 1984 NAMM and each was a little different.

Those are definitely different double axes; the vol knob location is different. I wonder what market segment Semie was hoping to attract with these.

As an aside, Adam, if the three pickup model with the pickups at different angles is called the American model, any idea of the model name on the ones with the three pickups all angled like on the Double Axe (and my partsrite)?

Who said they're different models? In general, the earlier American models have the more intricate German carve and the varied pickup angles, and the later American models have the simplified German carve and the parallel pickups.

Yes I did speak to him. I picked up every piece of literature that I could lay my hands on! Unfortunately most is gone!

I wish we could sit down together and thumb through those scrap books that you see laid out!

I'm thinking the market is B.C. Rich, Iceman, Kiss, ect. I don't know what Semie's thinking was.
