JFYI, I'm getting these photo's from a disc of photo's I have saved over the years. Unfortunatley I didn't get chance to save them all. I had about three hundred more pictures of early Jazzmaster's, Duo Sonic's and tweed amps that was lost.

My '63 didn't make it on that batch. From what I've read, there were only 20 to 30 of these
that were made with the convex cut. Because of the costs and time consumption to make the guitar
this way, they started using the concave cut which was less time consuming, and helped cut the
cost of making these beauties. ;)

As an aside, looking at the photo, the underside of the vibrato string retainer plate looks different than on my Moseley tremolo. On the Moseley, there's a raised ring with keeps the spring from moving around, but on this Vibramute, it looks like the underside of the plate has no ring, or maybe just a really small ring. Is the spring kept in place only by the nut that holds the arm on?

Here's my Moseley for reference:

The vibramute has the inset to hold the springs same as the Moseley vibrato but it does not have the raised ring.

Danny, that makes sense. Anybody have a picture of the vibramute spring inset?

I know this is 'old hat' for a lot of you but we've had several new members join the forum since first posting this topic. I thought I would bring it 'back to the top' in hopes that additional information or photo's may surface. To get back to the topic, Please refer to the first post.

Guys, unless I'm mistaken on this guitar, one of our newest members (Bob) has one of these...

In order to help conceal this modification, pickguard material was shaped and fitted around the vibrato plate. If you could find one of these guitars, the price would be upwards of $50,000. If you are a gambler then search yard sales and estate sales and maybe with a one in ten trillion chance you may discover your treasured 'mistake plate' guitar.

Does this assesment include greenish blue double headed things like mine?/

Great photo's. Damon where are you getting the pics? Are there more photo's, specifically in the areas of the vibrato and top side of neck to body joints, plus concave and convex German carves?

If you look at the side profile of the set necks they will appear horizontal with the body. To compensate for the mistake, Semie began angling the neck down ward where it joins the body. This in turned raised the bridge allowing the vibrato to be mounted directly on top of the body.

As for the assessed value, I would 'guess' that your double neck would really be up there in value but probably not as desirable as the single neck pre Ventures model. To get a true value of your guitar I would contact Artie Niesen at Front Porch Music, Bakersfield, CA. He is one of the most knowledgeable and probable has the most extensive Mosrite collection in the world. Fair warning, Artie doesn't give out that kind of information easily. Especially if there's a chance you might be selling. ;)
