Hey Brutus,
The "gingerbread" was part of Semie's 'thing' in the 50's. Semie was sought after to do custom inlay work for many C&W stars. You'll see the gingerbread on most of Semie's stuff from that era. Larry related that the script "Larry" on the pickuguard was his actual signature that Semie inlaid into the Super 400 type acetate pickguard material.

Thanks for the info Terry. I was also wondering about the feather(?) around the pick-up selector and the flower? They seem to show up a lot on the 50's guitars, did these things just come out of Semie's head or was he influenced by something or someone?

That feather would be a treble clef.
