This is Joe's second doubleneck. It is in the Kern County Museum

It may not be on display at this time though.

Beautiful guitar. I'd like to see a full shot of the one next to it, too.

Thanks Terry.
Hey EF, I see your pic of this guitar on the other thread and you mention you've got some info on this guitar, bring it on!

Re: 70's Maphis double neck
A picture of a Gibson on the MOSRITE forum!? Oh well. Now that I think of it, that fancy Gibson kind of pales in comparison to Joe's guitar. Also got me to thinking why Merle never played a mosrite?
Just to mix it up a little more here check out this pic taken at the country music hall of fame in Nashville sometime in the '90s. As far as I can make out, this guitar was made in 1964 and donated by Joe in 1973. So this looks like Joe's second double neck??

Hello-
This is actually Joe's 1st double neck from 1954. It was re-necked and re-modeled in the early 60's. Joe 2nd guitar is in the Kern County Museum. There is a picture of it in this thread a few entries up - Terry

Terry,
Is it possible that the guitar went back to the Factory one more time after that, say like '66 or later?
The reason for me being confused, is I see a Moseley Vibrato System, not the 'ol Vibramute

make the Mos' of it, choose the 'rite stuff.

Re: 70's Maphis double neck
This guitar went back to Semie every time Semie came up with something new. Here's another twister. In the booklet that comes with the Town Hall Party DVD, Joe and Larry Collins are playing this guitar at the same time and the kicker is,,,,,,,it is in natural finish not sunburst. It also has the early Bigsby style headstock necks.
