GPC Mosrite

Postby dubtrub » Sat Jul 05, 2008 9:27 am

Here's another one to add to our collection of Mosrite clones. This guitar showed up on eBay and appears to be a very close rendition when it comes to over all shape. According to the seller "It was made by the now defunct Giorgini Precision Craft Company from Seattle. Purchased in 2001".

I remember those from years ago. I think "Giorgini" refers to Mass Giorgini, who recorded / produced a number of punk rock bands for Lookout! recs. They were fairly inexpensive instruments from what I remember...

Giorgini Precision Craft was actually founded by Mass' brother Flav who is also the guitarist for a punk band called Squirtgun with brother Mass on the bass. Those GPC models were available in three models. The Weaselrite (Ben Weasels signature model, the GPS standard and the GPC deluxe. The later had models modeled after Johnny Ramones Ventures two model called the GPC Rockaway model. I used to tour with squirtgun for a while back in the early 2000's and had a lot of time to talk to Flav about those guitars. Many of the guitars were limited production numbers which makes them kinda rare to get a hand on but they play really good.

I do think it is kind of weird that they would copy a Mosrite and not really say anything about it... I mean they have "rite" in the name but otherwise it's like, hey check out our great unique guitar.

I had heard GPC's were really good guitars. That body shape looks spot on.
