NEW MEMBER - From SF

Postby mattreverberation » Sun May 16, 2010 5:45 pm

Hi all,
I decided to register and be part of this forum because I really need to share and get some info about Mosrite guitars. I'm in the process to buy a 1966 Ventures and I realized there's some much stuff you want to know before spending that kind of money without risking to get a cheap copy on eBay.
I was especially looking for info about the Japanese Firstman Mosrite which they look pretty similar to the original ones. I just discovered they even used the same logo!

How do I see the difference? And how do I know wether or not the Mosrite I'm willing to buy it's an actual 1966?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum ... the early Firstman had a rectangular neck plate with a small "teardrop" at the bottom of the rectangle - Mosrite had the kidney-shaped neck plate (one difference you can notice immediately)

Thanks,
Yeah... I guess it was a good one. I've been outbid tho. Sold for $1845. Do you guys think that's what it's worth or whoever outbid me got a great deal there?
I have the feeling that was a good bargain for that guitar.

Welcome Matt, before you decide to spend good money on a real (i.e. Semie Moseley-made/authorised) guitar, browsing this forum for a while first is the best way of gathering Mosrite knowledge to help you decide. There's lot's to learn from this thread too... viewforum.php
...and enjoy the forum while you're at it ;)

Paul
