Hello From Canada new Mosrite owner :)

Postby phonospud » Sun Nov 28, 2010 3:22 pm

Hello Everyone!
I have recently purchased a 1960's Mosrite Ventures model bass. This bass was found locally from a US citizen who recently moved to Canada. I bought it off of the original purchaser's son who did not want it. The bass is in almost like new condition, with it's original case I believe. I love the way it sounds and plays!
I installed Rotosound back nylon flatwound strings to add to the quality of it's sound.
Can anyone tell me what year it was made. I think it's a 1966. It's serial number is 5419 stamped on the fretboard.
Looking forward to chatting!
Cheers,

As soon as I can figure out how to post photos I will post some!

Welcome to the forum.

Looking forward to seeing photo's. That would help in narrowing the date of manufacture more so than a serial number alone.

Nice looking guitar. Judging by the photo's it looks to have the spun knobs and I see the added screw at the top of the pickguard at the neck. Those items on a six string Ventures model would be indicative of a '64, and I believe the same would apply to the bass. Probably the date codes on the potentiometers, plus the dates stamped in the neck pocket (if any) would give a closer date.

Very nice looking bass.

Anyone know when they started using the Mosrite "duckfeet" tuners?

What a stunning Bass, and Sunburst too! It's practically in New Old Stock condition
Care to swap it for my Candy Apple Red Aria VMB75 Ventures Bass?!

I think the "Duck Feet" tuners [actually: headstock shape] were introduced in 1966/7
