Experts - Help wanted.

Hi

I am planning to buy my first mosrite. I love the sound and the feeling. I am having the oportunity now.
I cant give a in hand description because i don`t have it here (yet )

I would like to know what year it is. The seller says that it is a late 60 model.

Before posting i ve tried to find a answer using the search, but there are lots and lots of details to solve the puzzle.

Welcome GP, that is an attractive looking Mosrite. I'm wondering though if the neck has been married to the body at some stage, after both parts had left the factory separated from each other and having a different past, i.e. now a 'Partsrite' or perhaps even a custom order. I'm not an expert and may be proven wrong but I don't associate that swanky 70's headstock with an earlier Mark 1 body (i.e. with slanted neck pick-up) Again, a very nice guitar!!

It is an early '70's V I model. Probably 1972. These are excellent guitars. Semie really knew what he was doing then and the necks are more playable for most people than the '60's ones. The only thing I am not crazy about on these guitars are the Japanese tuners. Some are tight to turn. If they work well leave them original as there is nothing wrong with them if they are well maintained. This guitar looks to be a beauty! Congrats! If you have a problem with the tuners just get some Klusons and you will be in business. I love '70's Mosrites! These guitars are in the 70's catalog so it is not a partsrite! Looks all original to me! 100% Bakersfield goodness!!

Early 70's to be sure. These are sweet playing guitars. The frets were as bit higher and the fingerboard a tad wider. I have a video of Glenn Campbell playing one exactly like this.

What is the the diference betwen an Combo model and a Mark 1 model?
I am note talking about the shape, but the sound diference.

I think that those combos models are amazing good looking, but how does that F holes changes the sound?
Mark 1 is a solid body and the combo is not.

I really do want that amazing ventures surfing sound. I am not a The ventures cover and i don`t care about Ventures model or not. Can the combo model get there ? What an amazing tone they had.

It is not in great shape as the Mark model, but it is beautiful. I do love that f holes and the body shape. The seller says that it is a 68 model. Again need help.
What would you do if you have to choose one or another?

Another nice vintage Mosrite. Funny, this does not have a bound f hole. I have original Mosrite white bound f holes if you decide you would like one. The Combo has a darker sound due to the body being hollow. The Ventures did use them in the later 60's period. They sound fine and really nice with a fuzz tone too. I think it would compliment your Ventures model nicely.

This Combo is an early one, as it has the fullsize vibrato. Most of these had the half-size one, which I would say was a cost saving measure. In my opinion, this one is more desirable, and more rare. I've owned several Combos. It is a truly great guitar -and very unique -as opposed to the more conventional Celebrity. I believe Semie once said it was the most expensive one to make.

Hi all

I tough the combo semi f hole had a bright and twangy sound, and the solid body mark a more deeper and sound.

I have a gretsch white falcon with filtertrons. Thats my only guitar. It already has a twangy sound..looking for something to complement it.

Any more inputs?
