i took a few pics of it. it definately is metal flake.its not the big flakes. standard flakes are usually .015. this guitar has .008 flakes. needless to say, the clearcoat has checked nicely.
this is his one and only electric guitar he owns. he never bought another guitar.
i did some pickup inspection and found the neck pickup was 9.8k and the bridge pickup is 8.9k. i had the understanding that mosrite pickups were 11-13k. not his. they still sounded great.
so, were ventures mosrites in metal flake a common thing back then?
