Hello from Arkansas
Hey Guys... Long time Ventures and Mosrite fan... just stumbled across your forum! Looking forward to visiting with each of you. I am a professional photographer in Arkansas. I'm fortunate enough to get to photograph a lot of vintage instruments as well. I'm currently gathering parts to build/restore a Ventures model Mosrite. Looking forward to having this forum as another source of info!

Yep, what Sancho said. Welcome JB and good luck with the restoration/build. Maybe we'll be lucky enough for you to share your progress (hint: with pics) here, with this ever-hungry bunch of Mosrite fans

Re: Hello from Arkansas
Thanks guys! I'll be starting a blog about the build hopefully next week... I'll post photos and descriptions of my process as the job goes on... but in the meantime, here's the basic info to peak your interest (possibly make you jealous too
)
A little background on me. I grew up in Little Rock, born in '72 and my dad's parents lived in Booneville, AR about an hour and a half away.... Does that name ring a bell? Booneville? As in home of the Mosrite factory in the early 90s just before Semi died! Now, that said, dad was in a band in the 60s and as i was growing up I spent hours upon hours listening to his Ventures "Where the Action Is" LP and just fell in love with the Ventures sound. I would sit and read every word on the album sleeve and studied the pix of those Mosrite guitars constantly. Fast forward to today, now i'm into building some guitars and playing a lot of ventures tunes but I have YET to own a real Mosrite. A nice, vintage one is still out of my budget so I thought I was out of luck as parts don't show up available very often.
A few months ago, I took a stab at adding Dana Moseley as a friend on social media and she has been incredibly helpful. She built me a pair of her "Dana-Mo" pickups wound to the specs of the old Ventures Model guitars. So then I was on the search to build a guitar that would do them some justice and hopefully get me the mosrite sound.
THEN a few weeks ago, I spotted a un-finished ventures model body on ebay and the description said it was in Nashville, TN and that it was one of the last bodies from the BOONEVILLE factory made in 1992... That got my attention so I emailed the seller and asked how he knew for sure it was from Booneville and not just someone's knock off from the templates you see around... He said he was Semie's brother. Naturally, I checked with Dana and she said "Yep, that's my uncle. he has a few parts left over" So long story short, i bought the body. Dana then agreed to sell me a vintage, unfinished Ventures Model neck that already had frets and binding. When those parts arrive next week I will start the blog with photos of my new found goodness.
How fun is THAT?
