1966 Ventures Bass
I just acquired a 1966 Ventures Bass and I'm hoping someone has information about the gage and brand of the flat wounds originally installed by the factory.

Re: 1966 Ventures Bass
IIRC, Mosrite had it's own label strings so they could have been made by anyone. I put a set of D'Addario ENR71M half-rounds on my newly-acquired bass and they have the feel of flats with a little more brightness. If you have the foam pad on the bridge cover you will get the muted sound no matter what strings you put on.
Note that you need medium scale strings. 34" scale strings wrap the thick part of the string around the peg and short-scale strings are too short due to the tailpiece/bridge spacing.
